Rest & Digest
Although being in quarantine has heavily impacted our lives, we learned to adapt to the new normal. While at home, we have the opportunity to cultivate patience within ourselves and establish new ways to practice wellness. The constraints have led us to focus on prioritizing our health and nourishing our mind, body, and spirit on a daily basis.
Encouragingly, many adopted exercising into their overall wellness routines. Now the tough part: maintaining these healthy habits in a post-quarantine world. In order to maintain momentum within a wellness routine, consider new additions to enhance and improve the quality of your exercises.
With new additions comes the importance of rest and recovery within your wellness routine. Without the proper care for your body during and after exercising, you may do more harm than good. Stay motivated while resting, relaxing your body, and allowing your muscles to heal.
1. Meditation: A perfect way to unwind and relax after a strenuous workout is to find your inner Zen. By consciously focusing your attention on breathing and relaxing, your overall mind and body will feel at ease.
2. Herbal Tea: Drinking a cup of tea after exercising is a great tonic for overall relaxation and muscle soreness. Sahana’s Moments Blend includes: Jasmine tea, Green Tea, Echinacea, Lemon Grass, Lotus, Cat’s Claw, Marigold, and Hemp that are rich ingredients perfect for easing muscle soreness and inflammation after a workout.
3. Sleep: During sleep our body repairs, recovers, and rebuilds. Maintaining a proper sleep schedule is essential for your body to recuperate after exercising. Sahana’s Dusk blend has mind-calming herbs carefully infused to welcome a serene state. Drift away into the sacred sleep space your mind and body need.
4. Consume anti-inflammatory foods: A healthy post workout meal is important for muscle recovery, more specifically, a meal filled with anti-inflammatory properties. In order to reduce muscle soreness, include these in your diet:
- Cherries
- Whole grain carbs
- Leafy greens
- Omega 3 fats
- Apples
- Walnuts
- Pineapples
With the shifts and changes to our daily lives as a result of the pandemic, it is important to find new ways to care for our overall well-being. For now and the near future, we must remember the importance of our wellness both physically and emotionally while remembering to stay safe and protecting one another.
